Candidate screening

To ensure our screening processes deliver the relevant skills and qualifications we combine our own customised competency based screening, with  BS7858 screening and skills frameworks such as SFIA*. Where security clearance is required we regularly provide candidates to DV cleared level.

Background and Qualifications

BS7858 checking enables us to confirm a candidate’s professional and educational qualifications, it is the British Standards Institute code of practice for security screening. BS7858 checking.

Additionally we are able to check a candidate’s qualifications and professional memberships. Certes will request copies of relevant certificates and qualification numbers and have them confirmed independently if required.

These checks use the latest screening tools to ensure a fast and effective process to confirm a candidate’s background and achievements.

*The SFIA Framework (Skills Framework for the Information Age) provides a reference model to enable organisations to identify their skills requirements and make the best use of their IT systems. Certes are able to compare Job Descriptions against the framework and provide assistance with developing Job Descriptions. Within SFIA+ we are also able to conduct a skills audit and standardise roles and job titles. Candidates can be skilled within Certes’ database against SFIA categories and sub-categories.  

Competency Interviewing

Certes use a Competency Bank of questions to assess the skills of each candidate. During requirement definition we will request clients identify between four and six competencies for their roles and we will tailor the screening process to their needs.

Technical Testing

Certes are able to technically test the candidate through administering on-line tests with Candidates, which are time based, and results can be e-mailed automatically to the Line Manager, the candidate and Certes. There are over 1,000 technical tests within the library, with different levels of difficulty, depending on the candidate’s grade and job requirement. Prove It! is used for technical skills testing. Each skill test also has different test levels, ranging from just 12 months work experience through to 5 years plus / expert level.

We believe the BCA is unique to Certes and uses a range of questions covering business analysis issues across 10 distinct categories.

Project Management Capability Assessment

Project Management Capability Assessment or PCA has been designed to assess the Project Management effectiveness of candidates. The PCA provides invaluable insight into a candidate’s knowledge of a wide range of Project Management competencies. The PCA is divided into seven sections; General, Strategic, Control, Technical, Commercial, Organisational, People.
