Job Description :
Oracle DBA required to work in the public sector, based in Wilton, Salisbury on a 6 month contract initially.
• Creating and retiring database and application server environments. • Installing, upgrading and patching Oracle software. • Liaising with the appropriate network managers to ensure that the development and test environments are backed-up, and to undertake restore activities as appropriate. • Monitoring and undertaken pro-active maintenance to ensure the continued operation of the development environments. • Undertaking technical problem diagnostics and liaising with Oracle Support. • Liaising with the production DBAs to ensure the smooth transition of projects from the development and test environments into the live environments.
The essential skills required for this role are:
• Excellent communication and time management skills. • A high standard of: interpersonal skills; customer service skills; questioning skills. • A proven DBA with experience in supporting IS solutions using the following IS technologies; • Oracle 10g • Oracle 10g AS
The desirable skills for this role are:
• Experience in an application development environment. • Experience in supporting IS solutions using the following IS technologies; • Oracle 10g RAC • Oracle 10g ASM • Oracle OID and SSO • Oracle Discoverer • Oracle Reports • Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition • Working within a Data Warehousing project • VM Ware • Microsoft Windows 2003 • Exposure to managing an Oracle eBusiness Suite instance
Candidates will require security clearance to SC level or above (or be willing to undergo) for this role.
